Stark Media Strategies
In 2016 after more than two decades first as a reporter/anchor and then as healthcare executive, Lisa launched her own healthcare media consulting firm, Stark Media Strategies. Lisa works with healthcare practices across a wide spectrum of specialties to help doctors connect with future patients, grow their digital footprint and raise awareness through grassroots, creative public relations campaigns and videos.
Sher Fertility Institute
As Vice President of Communications at Sher Fertility, Lisa established a brand that stands as one of the best loved in the fertility industry worldwide. She developed a fully integrated, groundbreaking marketing and communications program. As a result of her efforts, Sher Fertility rose to become a market leader and increased in value so dramatically that the company was sold to a major fertility holding company.
Notable achievements include:
- More than 500 media placements including coverage in the New York Times, CNN, Today Show and hundreds of other prominent news organizations.
- Created and Managed the Sher social media channels noted as the best in class.
- Oversaw the development of Dr. Sher’s blog to drive 60% of web traffic and new patient leads.
- Led two website redesigns resulting in a responsive, fluid website generating 300 new patients leads per month
- Signature achievement, I Believe Video Project: Brainstormed the idea to host on the Sher website a national video contest. I Believe sparked record engagement on social channels, increased web traffic dramatically (222%) and garnered national news coverage. Most significantly I Believe is the subject of a documentary film by an Academy-Award nominated filmmaker.
Nevada Cancer Institute
Prior to Sher Fertility, Lisa served as Vice President of Communications for Nevada Cancer Institute (NVCI). At NVCI she managed eight direct reports and oversaw a 2-million-dollar annual communications budget. She was tasked with developing communications vehicles for a wide array of audiences including donors, government officials, local and national media and referring physicians.
Notable achievements include:
- Led PR/media relations strategy that positioned NVCI as a community leader and voice of authority. Built strong relationships with local/state media. Gained $2.5M+ in earned media coverage annually.
- Guided NVCI through crisis issues, preserving NVCI’s stellar reputation by quickly averting potentially damaging PR, including coverage by “60 Minutes” on the closure of the oncology clinic at University Medical Center, reduction in force and leadership changes in 2008 and a lawsuit from a major donor.
- As Founding Editor of Breakthrough Magazine, NVCI’s signature communications piece, transformed a simple 4-page brochure into an award-winning 40-page magazine, which was named Best External Magazine by the National Non-Profit Awards. The twice-yearly publication’s distribution reached 150,000 to cancer centers nationwide

Television News Anchor/Reporter
Before healthcare leadership roles, Lisa was an anchor and reporter for 15 years in seven local news markets across the country. She credits the news business with developing skills that enabled her rise to the top in Healthcare Communications. These skills include the ability to write concise, compelling copy, translate complex scientific information into tangible, relevant content and the ability to work under deadline pressure. In the television industry, she was also groundbreaking as the first ever female sportscaster in the states of Vermont and Maine.
Lisa graduated from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor with a double major in History and Broadcast Journalism.
